2026—2027: Gongju Cultural Arts Archive
Starting in 2026, I'll be working with the Gongju University Library and several cultural institutions to help build a shared digital archive for local arts and humanities materials. This project brings together regional museums, libraries, cultural foundations, and artist communities by creating a unified space for preserving and accessing Gongju's cultural record.
Why this work matters
Much of Gongju's cultural history is scattered across different institutions or held in private collections. The archive aims to bring these pieces together, support long-term preservation, and offer residents, students, and researchers an accessible way to explore the region's artistic and historical landscape.
My role
- Supporting metadata development and archive structure
- Consulting on digital preservation and documentation strategies
- Working with partner institutions on digitization planning
- Participating in community workshops and public programming
Project focus (Year 1)
- Surveying institutions and artists to understand the scope of materials
- Developing shared metadata and copyright guidelines
- Digitizing artworks, exhibition records, and interviews
- Building the first version of the online search/browse platform
- Running community and citizen archiving programs
Expected outcomes
This work will strengthen relationships across the region, expand public access to cultural materials, support educational and research uses, and help establish a long-term ecosystem for preserving Gongju's artistic and cultural heritage.
